People Power Party Leader Jang Dong-hyuk visited a traditional market in Daejeon ahead of the Chuseok holiday in early next month.

On the morning of the 25th, Leader Jang visited Daejeon Central Market with Chief of Staff Park Joon-tae, Secretary-General Jung Hee-yong, and Senior Spokesperson Choi Bo-yoon, exchanging greetings with merchants while purchasing items such as gimbap, cucumbers, and old-fashioned snacks.

Originally from Boryeong, South Chungcheong Province, he asked the owner of a dumpling shop in the market, "Are you having a hard time these days?" and added, "I started my political career in Daejeon. Traditional markets are facing increasing difficulties. The People Power Party will strive to revitalize traditional markets, so please keep your spirits up."

He paid with Onnuri gift certificates and purchased vegetable and meat dumplings.

In response to another merchant who said, "Now is the hardest time. Leader Jang, please go to America and ask for lower tariffs and revive the economy," Leader Jang replied, "I will pay more attention. I will tell them to negotiate well."

As Leader Jang toured the market for about 30 minutes, citizens also approached him to greet him or ask for handshakes, saying, "He's actually good-looking," and "Please take a picture."

In response, Leader Jang showed his friendly side by using his characteristic Chungcheong dialect, saying, "I'll do well," "The TV is not very clear," and "We'll have to take about 10 pictures."

To some merchants' critical remarks, such as "Don't just engage in political disputes, but exert influence in the National Assembly" and "Stop fighting," he responded by saying, "If we don't fight, we lose," and bowed 90 degrees.

The People Power Party leadership, including Leader Jang, has been carrying out their schedule in Daejeon since the previous day as part of their effort to connect with public sentiment along the Gyeongbu Line northward. Yonhap News
