According to KBS, the Constitutional Court assigned Justice Jeong Kye-seon as the principal judge for the constitutional appeal case filed by former President Yoon's side, which was received on the 8th.

A panel of three judges, including the principal judge Jeong, conducted a preliminary review of the constitutional appeal case filed by former President Yoon's side, and on the 23rd, the case was referred to the full bench.

Justice Jeong, who became a justice upon the recommendation of the Democratic Party of Korea, is classified as a representative left-leaning justice within the Constitutional Court. Consequently, attention is expected to focus on whether controversy over the fairness of this constitutional appeal will be reignited.

Former President Yoon's side had filed a motion to recuse Justice Jeong Kye-seon in January, during the impeachment trial of the president.

Previously, on the 8th, former President Yoon's legal team applied for a request for a constitutional review of the law by the court presiding over the "rebellion trial" and filed a constitutional appeal with the Constitutional Court.

The legal team stated, "The current special prosecutor law allows the legislative branch to directly intervene in investigative authority and appoint a special prosecutor while excluding a specific political party," and revealed the background of the lawsuit, saying, "It seriously infringes upon the 'right to be tried by a judge' guaranteed by the Constitution."
