Jang Dong-hyuk: "No Future If We Don't Fight Now" ... Urges Attendance at Rallies

 Jang Dong-hyuk, the leader of the People Power Party, said on the 26th, two days before the Seoul rally, "If we don't fight now, there is no future for the Republic of Korea."

Speaking at a workshop for key party officials of the Incheon Metropolitan Chapter held at the Incheon International Airport Corporation Human Resources Development Center, Jang urged, "Even if you have different opinions, please join the citizens' will to protect the Republic of Korea by coming out to the rallies."

He raised his voice, saying, "Some people say now is not the time for street protests. If you say, 'We can just dig for clams on the mudflat, why go catch blue crabs?' when I suggest going out to sea to catch blue crabs, then go dig for clams. Do something, somewhere."

He continued, "If those who criticize the street protests are fighting more meaningfully elsewhere, you don't have to come out and join us. However, I cannot find any evidence of them fighting anywhere."

Jang argued, "A media column stated that Korea has entered the sixth stage of seven stages towards dictatorship, which is the annihilation of the opposition party. The moment the People Power Party is dissolved according to their will, the citizens will ultimately have to shed blood to protect liberal democracy and the Republic of Korea, facing a final moment."

Jang emphasized, "Incheon has protected the Republic of Korea. Now is the time once again for an Incheon Landing Operation to save the Republic of Korea. Please gather strength from Incheon. If Incheon wins, the Republic of Korea can win."

These remarks by Jang come ahead of the second rally scheduled to be held in Seoul on the 28th.

It is interpreted that these statements are aimed at the critical voices within the party regarding the effectiveness of street protests, which have been raised ahead of the rally on the 28th, following the Daegu rally on the 21st. Yonhap News
