Opposition parties demanded that President Lee Jae-myung's official apology regarding the government's computer network paralysis, caused by the fire at the National Computing Resource Center, lacked sincerity and called for practical countermeasures.

Park Sung-hoon, senior spokesperson for the People Power Party, stated in a commentary on the 29th, "President Lee issued his first official apology since taking office for this incident. However, the content was not a sincere and responsible apology, but rather a detached remark blaming the previous administration."

He pointed out, "The defendant's attitude of always saying 'it's not my fault' in court has resurfaced in the face of a national disaster," adding, "What the public truly wants to hear is not finger-pointing, but the President's clear sense of responsibility, his determination for swift recovery, and effective measures to prevent recurrence."

He continued, "Despite being in office for over 100 days, not a single measure has been checked for core national infrastructure. This is a man-made disaster caused by the overall incompetence of the Lee Jae-myung administration, a predicted catastrophe," and claimed, "'Political revenge' and 'local elections' have occupied his mind, leaving public welfare behind."

Lee Jun-seok, leader of the New Reform Party, remarked, "It is ironic that the President, who painted a rosy future of a 4.5-day workweek, is now ordering public officials to work through the night for restoration," and added, "Short-term recovery is virtually impossible for systems that have been in development for a long time. The government must be honest with the public."

He urged, "We need legislation that mandates government system availability and geographical redundancy. Special budgets should also be allocated for system modernization," and stated, "I hope the President will personally step forward to find a fundamental solution to this issue."

The previous day, President Lee had stated, "As the highest responsible person for the nation, I am deeply sorry," but added, "A thorough investigation is necessary to determine if negligence in protecting the core national computer network has led to this severe disruption."
