Busan District Prosecutors' Office indicts Pastor Son Hyun-bo on charges including election law violations

The Busan District Prosecutors' Office announced on the 29th that it has arrested and indicted Pastor Son Hyun-bo of the Busan Saegero Church on charges of conducting illegal early campaigning ahead of this year’s presidential election and the Busan superintendent of education re-election (violating the Public Official Election Act, etc.).

Pastor Son is accused of engaging in illegal election campaigning, such as making statements in support of a specific candidate to congregants during prayer meetings and Sunday services at Saegero Church around May of this year, ahead of the presidential election.

He is also charged with filming a discussion with Jung Seung-yoon, the single conservative candidate, at the church during the period of the Busan superintendent of education re-election held on April 2, and posting the video on social media platforms including YouTube.

Pastor Son, who leads the Protestant organization 'Save Korea,' has also spearheaded rallies against the impeachment of former President Yoon Suk Yeol.

Following his arrest, he filed for a review of the legality of his detention, but the request was dismissed on the 24th. Yonhap News
