Poet and ColumnistCurrent Unification Minister Chung Dong-young and I share the same surname, Jung (鄭), but we hail from different ancestral clans. He belongs to the Dongnae Jung clan, while I am of the Jinju Jung clan. I have heard that if we trace our lineages back to the Unified Silla period, the three main Jung clans, including the Gyeongju Jung clan, are related by blood, having branched out from Gyeongju.
Furthermore, Chung Dong-young and I both originate from the Jeonbuk region. He is from Sunchang County, and I am from Gochang County. Although these are neighboring districts, Sunchang was a "liberated zone" for partisans during the Korean War, as it is home to Hoemun Mountain, famous for guerilla activities. Perhaps because of this, Chung Dong-young and I are walking very different paths. While Chung is veering to the left, I raise my right hand and follow the path of righteousness.
Lately, Chung Dong-young has been spouting nonsense. He seems to be suggesting that we recognize North and South Korea as two separate states and live in peace. This is a pro-North Korean, fraudulent argument that distorts and manipulates the truth; in short, it is overstepping his bounds.
I do not know how he could be so brazen as to dare, as a mere Unification Minister, to talk about the permanent division of the Korean Peninsula.
Article 2 of our Constitution defines North Korean territory as part of the Republic of Korea and recognizes North Korean residents as our citizens. This is why North Korean defectors can receive resident registration cards immediately without needing to apply for naturalization; they are our citizens as guaranteed by the Constitution.
However, if we were to divide into two states as Chung suggests, North Korean residents would no longer be our citizens. Consequently, North Korean defectors would naturally become citizens of a foreign country, making them illegal immigrants upon entering the Republic of Korea.
Chung Dong-young seems to share the same perspective on defectors as Kim Min-seok. Kim Min-seok once referred to defectors as "traitors who betrayed and fled North Korea." This term is a malicious label, viewing defectors through the eyes of the North Korean regime.
If Kim Min-seok is not a North Korean, or if he is truly a citizen of the Republic of Korea, there is no reason to label defectors in such a way. By essentially suggesting we stop treating defectors as our own citizens, Chung Dong-young, who advocates for the "Two-State Theory," is no different from Kim Min-seok.
There is another impure intention hidden within this "Two-State Theory." If a catastrophic political upheaval were to occur in the North, the Chinese Communist Party would undoubtedly send troops into North Korea. China has long harbored intentions of absorbing North Korea to gain access to the East Sea. If such a situation were to arise, the Republic of Korea would be forced to stand by helplessly, because, according to Chung’s theory, North Korea would be a separate, independent nation.
However, under the current Constitution, North Korea is part of our country. If Chinese forces were to invade North Korean territory, we would be able to automatically send our own troops north to defend our soil.
I cannot be certain if Chung Dong-young dislikes this prospect, but I can certainly guess the motive behind him raising this issue. It is clear that he is not sincerely calling for peace on the peninsula, but rather appears to be someone who desires subservience to the North. It is not a call for peace, but an admission of surrender.
Therefore, Chung’s "Two-State Theory" must be viewed as an argument intended to make it impossible for our military to defend against Chinese aggression.
I recall his confirmation hearing for Unification Minister. While claiming to support inter-Korean peace, he argued that we must refrain from "acts of aggression" against the North. Us, invading North Korea? It was an unheard-of and earth-shattering claim.
Yet, when he provided examples of such "aggression," we could see a dark shadow cast over his face. He claimed that we were the first to invade Pyongyang with drones. However, North Korea sent drones across the border in March 2014. Chung Dong-young could not have been unaware of this fact, yet he was shifting the responsibility for military tensions on the peninsula onto the South Korean military.
The issue is that even after 2014, North Korea has consistently sent drones, even photographing Seoul and the Blue House. Despite this reality, Chung Dong-young was busy condemning only our military's 2022 drone operations, which were purely defensive countermeasures, as acts of aggression.
We do not forget that Chung Dong-young was once a presidential candidate for the Democratic Party. Though he sought to succeed Roh Moo-hyun as president, he lost to Lee Myung-bak by millions of votes. Now, twenty years later, he is barely holding the position of Unification Minister. It is a pathetic sight. And from that position, he blames the military confrontation and tensions on the peninsula entirely on us.
Recently, Chung Dong-young suggested banning live-fire drills for our military. His reasoning is that North Korea feels threatened. How can our live-fire training possibly be a threat to the North? We cannot understand his logic. Are we to believe the North Korean army doesn't conduct live-fire training? Who would believe that the North’s numerous long-range artillery, missiles, and nuclear weapons are symbols of peace, while our training is a threat?
So I ask:
"Chung Dong-young, are you truly a citizen of the Republic of Korea?"
The push to ban military drills seems like a desperate, tearful effort to protect North Korea regardless of the criticism. Can the roughly 1,000 hacking attempts on state institutions, including the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation, be called "peace"? The Democratic Party labels the turning of a blind eye to North Korean spies and compromised KCTU agents as "peace." Kim Jong-un must be applauding them with both hands.
A minister who speaks of banning military drills because they threaten the North is currently in Lee Jae-myung’s cabinet. This gives us a clear picture of the atmosphere within Lee’s cabinet.
There is a reason the Jung (鄭) surname is sometimes called the "Donkey Jung." When writing the simplified character 鄭, the first part, 人, is written as two dots, which resemble donkey ears. This carries the connotation of stubbornness. Chung Dong-young is acting exactly like a donkey, braying without any logic. This is a disgrace to the Dongnae Jung clan. I believe it is right for the family to excommunicate him.
It is not something to be proud of for a man who was once a presidential candidate to become a subordinate to Lee Jae-myung, who is ten years his junior. And his antics over becoming a mere Unification Minister—a post previously held by the likes of Lee In-young—are utterly shameful. He is of the same low caliber as Park Jie-won.
No citizen who participated in the June 3rd presidential election hoped to see national reunification left to such low-level, red-tinted figures. The exchange rate has soared past 1,400 won, the IMF is warning of an economic crisis due to mounting national debt, and tariff negotiations have collapsed.
The Democratic Party’s deception of the public—claiming their leader received a thunderous standing ovation when he couldn't even attend the Trump dinner and fled before his interpreter finished during a UN speech—is truly a sight to behold. Therefore, citizens who still trust the self-proclaimed "diplomatic genius" Lee Jae-myung, who is consistent only in his lies, cannot be true citizens of our nation.
The shameful acts currently being committed by the Democratic Party in the Republic of Korea will not end with the abolition of the Prosecution Service. The collapse of the separation of powers and the erosion of liberal democracy are only the beginning. This is the start of a communist dictatorial regime that intends to rule the Republic of Korea forever.
Even more frightening is the Lee Jae-myung administration's announcement that it will migrate 96 government systems—the very assets that were burned in the recent fire—to a "public-private partnership cloud." Behind this label lie actual companies notorious for espionage, such as Huawei. There are reports that Alibaba, Tencent, and Baidu are also participating. This means all of South Korea's national intelligence will fall into the hands of China. A sense of desperation to stop this massive conspiracy weighs heavily on my heart.
The current Democratic Party is a collective of inhumane, low-class individuals, ex-convicts, spies, and pro-China traitors. Not a single person capable of normal judgment remains. It is a group that ignores right and wrong, following only in dog-like, blind obedience.
"We view the actions of the Democratic Party as the barbarism of pro-China, pro-North Korean politicians. Nepal resolved this issue through a citizens' revolution. Thus, the end for the Democratic Party, where all sorts of riffraff run wild, is not far off!"
Due to the public deception seen in the tariff negotiation failure, the presence of groups like Seo Young-kyo and Chung Dong-young, the habitual fraud of blaming the National Information Resources Service fire on Yoon Suk-yeol, and the neglect of Chinese tyranny and criminal acts, the Democratic Party will face a crushing defeat in next year's local elections.
I apologize for casting a pall over the "Democratic Traitor Party," but the saying that the "leftists will destroy themselves" is undoubtedly true.
