Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Kang-soo) will conduct a survey until October 10th to proactively identify single-person households at high risk of social isolation and connect them with systematic welfare services.

Mapo-gu Mayor Park Kang-soo attended a birthday celebration for elderly residents living alone.This survey targets approximately 1,400 vulnerable single-person households aged 50 or older living in rented housing. Specifically, it includes 993 single-person households newly designated as basic livelihood security recipients between July 1, 2024, and June 9, 2025, as well as 392 individuals identified as being in welfare blind spots.

The survey will be conducted through home visits by welfare planners from local community service centers or by having the subjects visit the centers themselves. While face-to-face interviews are the primary method, non-face-to-face methods such as phone calls will be used when necessary.

Using a "Single-Person Household Survey Form" and a "Loneliness and Isolation Risk Checklist," the survey will comprehensively assess basic personal information, as well as the status of social relationships, daily life management, and signs of crisis.

Based on the survey results, Mapo-gu will categorize the households into five groups—relationship support, daily support, daily risk/isolation, intensive management, and emergency crisis—to provide tailored management. For those identified in risk groups, the district plans to provide regular wellness checks and emergency response support through the "Mapo Safe Knock-Knock! Mobile Safe Care Service."

Furthermore, the district intends to help these households recover their daily lives by connecting them with customized public services, such as SOS care services, psychological counseling at welfare centers, "Seoul Connection" prescriptions, and emergency welfare aid, depending on their specific needs.

Reflecting the reality of the continuously increasing proportion of single-person households, Mapo-gu plans to regularize this survey and expand community-based welfare initiatives.

Mapo-gu Mayor Park Kang-soo stated, "This survey goes beyond a simple status assessment; it demonstrates Mapo-gu's welfare philosophy of proactively reaching out to neighbors at risk of isolation. We will build a dense social safety net to ensure that our neighbors living alone do not feel lonely within our community."
