US President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi will co-chair a summit regarding a Gaza ceasefire.

According to foreign media including AFP, the Egyptian presidency announced on the 11th (local time) that a summit for peace in Gaza will be held in the Red Sea resort town of Sharm El Sheikh, co-chaired by the leaders of the two countries.

Previously, indirect ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas, mediated by the United States, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, also took place here.

The summit is scheduled for the afternoon of the 13th local time, and leaders of major European countries are also expected to travel to Egypt to express their support for a Gaza ceasefire.

The Egyptian presidency stated that the meeting aims to "strengthen efforts to end the war in Gaza and achieve peace and stability in the Middle East, opening a new era of security and stability" and that "leaders from about 20 countries are expected to attend."

According to AFP, UN Secretary-General António Guterres and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer have confirmed their attendance.

The French Élysée Palace also announced that President Emmanuel Macron will visit Egypt on the 13th to attend a meeting on the implementation of a peace plan for Gaza.

While the Élysée Palace did not mention President Trump, it explained that President Macron will meet with regional partners to discuss the next steps for implementing a ceasefire agreement.

German media reported that President el-Sisi invited German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to a signing ceremony, and Chancellor Merz accepted the invitation.

AFP, citing officials from both countries, reported that Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni are also expected to attend the signing ceremony.

However, it is not yet known whether Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will attend, and Hamas has stated that they will not participate.

A signing ceremony for the Gaza ceasefire agreement, mediated by the United States, is expected to take place at this summit.

Earlier, US media Axios reported that President Trump would arrive in Israel first on the 13th to address Congress and then attend the ceasefire agreement signing ceremony in Egypt in the afternoon.

The first phase of the agreement, based on President Trump's peace initiative, went into effect on the 10th. According to this, Hamas is scheduled to return Israeli hostages held captive by noon on the 13th, and Israel will release Palestinian prisoners.
