Pastor James Shinn, who reported the Lee Jae-myung North Korea remittance case to the United States and the United Nations, recently predicted in two interviews with the founding of the Hankookilbo newspaper that the case would move forward rapidly. Citing the case of Lee Hwa-young, which resulted in a final verdict on the 5th of last month, Shinn explained, "Mr. Lee is also an accomplice, and in American law, the punishment is the same for accomplices and principals. Ultimately, according to our team's assessment and what a Harvard associate told us, this is a 100% conviction for Mr. Lee Hwa-young." 

Pastor James Daniel Shinn (65, Korean name Shin Dong-young), a Korean-American who drew domestic and international attention in May by reporting then-Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung's alleged illegal remittance to North Korea to the United States and the United Nations, stated that he heard there was a more than 50% chance of eliminating Lee Jae-myung from within the US government authorities, conveying the urgent atmosphere within the US government.

In international phone interviews conducted twice before the founding of the Hankookilbo newspaper, on the 18th of last month and the 10th of this month, Pastor James Shinn suggested that the case would proceed at a rapid pace, saying, "It seems the atmosphere has completely shifted even within the CIA," and adding, "If you ask a few people in charge at the White House, they say there's a high probability."

Rumors in US Federal Circles: "Arrest as early as this year, international judicial proceedings may begin"

In a phone call in June, Pastor Shinn confidently predicted, "From what I see, they seem to want to expedite this matter."

When asked if he still holds the same judgment, he maintained his previous stance without change.

He predicted that the case had been transferred from the White House to the investigative agencies, and if then-President Donald Trump concluded that Lee Jae-myung must be removed to save Korea, charges would be filed immediately.

[Pastor James Shinn: "This is an important point. From a political perspective, if Trump thinks, 'We cannot afford to lose this country,' currently. But according to what these people are saying, ultimately, as far as I know, they conclude that Lee Jae-myung must be removed... So, on the White House side, if that doesn't work, they consider a direction like, 'Let's charge him.'"] 

He added, "I am still looking forward to that. Once the judgment is made, it will be announced the next day," forecasting that an arrest warrant for Lee Jae-myung and international criminal proceedings could be possible within the year, depending on President Trump's decision. 

[Pastor James Shinn: "If that succeeds, it will happen quickly. Within this year, an arrest warrant for Lee Jae-myung and international trial will be issued. It depends on Trump's mood, they say. In my opinion, to save Korea, Lee Jae-myung must be removed, or he must be left alone – it's one of those two options, in my view, when talking with people in the White House..."] 

He further indicated that there is a considerable consensus within the UN and US government agencies regarding the handling of the North Korean remittance case, stating, "They said they know more."

Pastor James Shinn first met the reporter when the reporter was working as the editor-in-chief of the Korea Daily in Washington. The Washington bureau of the Korea Daily recently published a headline about a press conference by a US election monitoring group at the National Press Club but abruptly deleted it. It was reported that this was due to external pressure. The Korea Daily is considered one of the few newspapers in the Korean-American community, which is heavily leaning left, that voices conservative and right-wing opinions. Pastor Shin, who has served as the head of a Korean organization from a Protestant and conservative perspective, also had close interactions with the newspaper during that period. 

In an interview on this day, Pastor Shin hinted at the timing of the case's handling by the United States and the United Nations, saying, "I was told at the end that once President Trump gives a hint to the UN, the State Department, and the Treasury, charges could be filed immediately." 

[Pastor James Shinn: "In any case, if Trump and Lee Jae-myung's relationship deteriorates, and if he gives a little hint to the UN, the State Department, and the Treasury, charges could be filed immediately. I heard this at the end."] 

When asked who provided the information from the UN, he revealed some of the source's identity to the reporter.

[Pastor James Shinn: "Those working on sanctions against North Korea... they told me not to talk to South Korea. They said not to tell the South Korean UN representative."] 

This conversation took place in June. According to Pastor Shinn, the UN had informed the accused party, the Lee Jae-myung administration, of the complaint's receipt. The source's request not to inform South Korea naturally became a past event.

Second complaint filed with Lee Hwa-young's final verdict; plans to send letters to UK, Japan, France, etc.

Pastor James Daniel Shinn moved to the United States at the age of 17 and has lived there for nearly half a century, 48 years. He is fluent in both English and Korean. While serving as the head of a Korean organization, he has also developed close relationships with Korean-American public officials working for the federal government.

When asked about who provided insights into the federal government's stance on the alleged illegal remittance case to North Korea, he mentioned Korean-American public officials. 

[Pastor James Shinn: "There are about 200 Korean-Americans in the CIA and the White House. They know more. They are almost all second-generation (born in the US). The whispers from that side are that if our country fails, the CIA currently believes that Korea is shifting towards China (with Lee Jae-myung's election). That's what they all know."] 

Pastor Shinn is preparing for a second complaint. He plans to submit an English translation of the final verdict sentencing Lee Hwa-young to seven years and eight months in prison, which was not yet finalized when the first complaint was filed on the 5th of last month. 

He added, "Mr. Lee Hwa-young is also an accomplice, and in American law, the punishment is the same for accomplices and principals. According to our team's assessment and what a Harvard associate told us, this is a 100% conviction for Lee Hwa-young..." 

In addition to the second complaint, James Shinn announced plans to expand the reporting internationally. 

Specifically, he stated, "We are exploring options for about 4-5 more filings as a second action," and added, "We plan to file complaints with NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization), the UN Human Rights Sanctions Mechanism, Canada, the International Criminal Court (ICC), France, and Japan."
