The Daily Mail reported that a shooting incident involving a Donald Trump supporter recently occurred in North Carolina.

The shootout took place on Saturday, September 6, at the home of Mark Thomas in Nantahala Gorge, North Carolina, between Mark Thomas and Benjamin Michael Campbell.

According to a report by the Daily Mail on Monday the 20th, Thomas stated that he saw Campbell on security cameras tearing down a Trump support banner (a banner with content supporting Trump in 2024) installed on his property and fired a warning shot.

Thomas described the situation at the time: "(Campbell) drove by, saw the banner, and slammed on the brakes. It was a moment of political passion. He had to tear down that banner. He stood on his tiptoes and tried to grab the edge of the banner. I thought, 'Oh my god, I can't believe this.'"

Campbell was wearing an Antifa-style mask at the time and got out of his Jeep Cherokee to commit the act.

Thomas said he took out his rifle, stating he had a gun and was a Trump supporter, then went to his porch and fired two warning shots into the air.

Campbell appeared to be leaving the scene, but he drove away while firing multiple shots from a pistol through the sunroof of his Jeep.

Surveillance footage shared by Thomas with the Daily Mail shows Campbell extending his pistol out of the sunroof and firing.

"He fired five or six shots as he drove down the driveway that leads to the highway in front of my house," Thomas said. "I found a bullet hole in the refrigerator on my porch... He was definitely trying to kill me."

Campbell has been charged with a Class C felony assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill or inflict serious injury, discharging a firearm with the intent to induce terror, and intentional and reckless property damage.
