The Korean Medical Association (KMA) announced on the 18th that it is actively exploring measures for healthcare response to extreme torrential rain.

In a statement released today, the KMA said, "We extend our heartfelt condolences to all those suffering from flood damage."

The KMA stated, "As a professional organization responsible for protecting public health in a national disaster situation, we are closely monitoring the damage situation in flood-affected areas, the status of waterborne infectious diseases, and physical and mental health impacts."

It added, "We will actively cooperate and collaborate with medical personnel in the flood-affected areas to make our best efforts in damage recovery and support. We also ask that medical institutions in flood-damaged areas pay special attention to ensuring the safety of their treatment environments and medical staff, as they may be exposed to risks of secondary accidents due to flooding or power outages."
