Standing Representative of the National Alliance for North and South Korea As soon as Lee Jae-myung impeached President Yoon Suk-yeol and usurped power, he became president and announced a grand 'economic philosophy' that would shock the world, causing a major stir.
On July 12th, Lee Jae-myung visited a samgyeopsal restaurant in Seoul, accompanied by women. While drinking, he made a remark as if he had made a great discovery: "The national economy will thrive if the alley economy thrives." However, the media buzzed about this ignorant statement, calling it a 'great economic philosophy.'
Having experienced both the North Korean and South Korean economies, namely socialist economics and capitalist market economics, I am writing a few words because the current reality in South Korea is so dire.
Even when I was in North Korea, I had a vague awareness of South Korea's rapid economic growth. Therefore, I thought that South Koreans, who value money more than communists, must have great economic knowledge.
That thought became a reality when I came to South Korea. After directly witnessing the miraculous development South Korea achieved through the eras of Syngman Rhee and Park Chung-hee, despite being far more underdeveloped than North Korea immediately after liberation, I was both surprised and envious.
However, that was short-lived. After the generation that created the 'Miracle on the Han River,' Koreans focused solely on making money, neglecting national education and ideological control to preserve the identity of the Republic of Korea.
In South Korea, situated between North Korea and China, granting unlimited freedom to the people while neglecting ideological education was the greatest mistake. As a result, South Korea has become a country with the most spies and traitors, degenerating into a society where they run rampant.
From the time Kim Young-sam became president, ignorant leftists who followed North Korea and China rose to become the mainstream in the country, and they began to dismantle the great achievements of the Republic of Korea built by previous generations, one by one.
As a prime example, Moon Jae-in, a subordinate of North Korea, brought forth the "income-led growth theory," which had already been discarded internationally, as soon as he became president, and ruined the South Korean economy. He suppressed large corporations, reduced working hours, and drastically increased hourly wages, ultimately collapsing the economy for the common people.
Now, Lee Jae-myung, a pro-North Korean and pro-China figure, is in power again and doing the same thing. These are the same people who mocked and criticized President Yoon Suk-yeol for merely having a drink on his way home from work. Yet now, they themselves are sitting in a bar in broad daylight with women, making the absurd claim that "the national economy will thrive if the alley economy thrives."
I knew Lee Jae-myung was at a level of an ignorant alley leader, but I didn't realize it was to this extent. Currently, South Korean large corporations are fleeing overseas one after another due to the tyranny of labor unions and the pressure from leftist regimes. Small and medium-sized enterprises are also going bankrupt, and countless workers are losing their jobs. In such a reality, who on earth would visit alleyway restaurants?
Instead of the "life with evenings" that Moon Jae-in advocated, it has now become a desolate era where people fear going to restaurants and have "solo drinks" at home.
The fundamental principle of a market economy is that income increases when large and small businesses thrive together, and that increased income then flows into the local commercial areas. It was because President Park Chung-hee fostered large enterprises in heavy industries, electronics, automobiles, and shipbuilding that small and medium-sized enterprises also survived, and the alleyway economy was naturally revitalized. This is common sense in economics.
Without even understanding this flow, Lee Jae-myung's proposal of the alley economy theory makes him not a president, but merely an 'ignorant commoner.' His alley economy theory is closer to what third-rate thugs who run bars would say. The media and leftists who applaud his words are the same trash.
The leftists who deny the achievements of President Park Chung-hee are traitors who share the North Korean communist ideology of stigmatizing large corporations as exploiters and appropriating their wealth to redistribute it.
The United States, which holds the lifeblood of the Korean economy, will never tolerate Lee Jae-myung's behavior. Yet, he is sitting in a bar with North Korea and China, prattling about the alley economy theory, leaving me with nothing but sighs about how bleak the future of this country is.
Ultimately, Lee Jae-myung will boast about "the alley economy has revived" and "the national economy has been revitalized" by distributing a few coins of free money to the public. And the Republic of Korea will be buried under a mountain of debt.
