Fourteen people have died and 12 are missing over five days due to "extreme downpours" that have been falling since the 16th.
Of these, eight deaths and six disappearances occurred in Sancheong, Gyeongnam, due to landslides and other causes. In Gapyeong, Gyeonggi Province, two people died and four are missing due to heavy rain, with authorities conducting search operations.
According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH) and the National Fire Agency on the 20th, as of 11 a.m. that day, extreme downpours across the country over the past five days had resulted in 14 deaths and 12 missing persons.
By region, the deceased include one person in Osan, Gyeonggi Province; two in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi Province; two in Seosan, South Chungcheong Province; one in Dangjin, South Chungcheong Province; and eight in Sancheong, Gyeongnam Province. The missing are two in Buk-gu, Gwangju; four in Gapyeong; and six in Sancheong.
The number of casualties is likely to change as rescue and relief efforts are ongoing.

Facility damage has also increased, with 1,920 cases of public facility damage, including road flooding, soil erosion, and collapse of river facilities, and 2,234 cases of private facility damage, such as building and farmland flooding, identified.
A total of 13,209 people from 9,694 households in 90 cities, counties, and districts across 14 provinces and cities have been evacuated due to the damage from this heavy rainfall.
As the heavy rain continues and the weather deteriorates, 58 flights have experienced operational disruptions.
From the 16th to 5 a.m. on the day of the report, the cumulative rainfall by region included 793.5 mm in Sancheong (Sicheon), 699.0 mm in Hapcheon (Samga), 621.5 mm in Hadong (Hwagae), 600 mm in Changnyeong (Docheon), 584.5 mm in Haman, 578.3 mm in Seosan, South Chungcheong Province, and 552.5 mm in Damyang (Bongsan), South Jeolla Province.
As of 10 a.m., the cumulative daily rainfall by region was concentrated in the Gyeonggi Province area, with 197.5 mm in Gapyeong, 178.5 mm in Uijeongbu, and 154.5 mm in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province.
The CDSCH predicted, "Rain is expected in the Seoul metropolitan area and Gangwon Province today, with scattered showers likely to occur in inland areas from late afternoon to evening."
