Rhee Chang-yong, Governor of the Bank of Korea, stated on the 27th regarding the $65 billion foreign currency swap with the National Pension Service, "There should be no major issues with extending it itself."

Speaking at a press conference after the BOK Monetary Policy Committee decided to freeze the benchmark interest rate at 2.50% on the same day, Governor Rhee said, "Our staff are likely discussing it."

Regarding the background of high exchange rates, Governor Rhee said, "It's not because of the US-Korea interest rate differential, but simply because overseas stock investments have increased. Young people are making a lot of overseas investments, thinking it's 'cool,' but I'm not sure if they are managing their risk when exchange rates fluctuate. I believe this is a unique situation for our country."
