Buses are moving at a snail's pace due to the heavy snowfall on the 4th. Reporter Lim Yo-hee
The weather forecast was accurate.
On the evening of the 4th, heavy snow fell across the entire Seoul metropolitan area, turning the whole world white.
Newspapers, including this one, all reported the Korea Meteorological Administration's forecast that snow would arrive late in the afternoon. However, until 5:30 PM, not a single cloud was visible in the Seoul sky, making one wonder if it would really snow.
The situation changed rapidly after darkness descended upon the city. Light flurries began to scatter, and soon the snowflakes grew larger, eventually turning into a blizzard. In a matter of moments, the city was buried under heavy snow.
Caught in the sudden heavy snowfall on their way home from work, pedestrians hurried their steps, buses began moving at a crawl, and children ran outside, jumping for joy. Some children were busy making snowmen.
The snow, which seemed like it would never stop, poured down for about 30 minutes before ceasing. However, because the temperature had dropped significantly that day, the snow did not melt immediately. The first snow that covered the roads and sidewalks thus made its presence felt for a long time.
