U.S. President Donald Trump received the newly established FIFA Peace Prize from the International Football Federation (FIFA) on December 5 (local time).

FIFA President Gianni Infantino presented the Peace Prize to President Trump on stage at the 2026 North, Central America and Caribbean World Cup Finals draw ceremony held at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., U.S. Infantino presented President Trump with a medal and a certificate.

Infantino explained, "The FIFA Peace Prize is awarded annually to an exceptional individual who has demonstrated unwavering commitment to promoting global peace and unity through outstanding leadership and actions, representing billions of football fans worldwide."

He added that President Trump was selected as the recipient "to honor his outstanding and exceptional efforts and actions shown in promoting peace and unity around the world."

President Trump stated, "This is one of the greatest honors of my life."

President Trump emphasized that his second administration has resolved conflicts such as the Pakistan-India clash since its inauguration in January, stating, "We have saved millions of lives," and "The world is a safer place now."

While Trump has openly expressed his desire for the Nobel Peace Prize, stating, "I have stopped eight wars," this year's Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Maria Corina Machado, a Venezuelan opposition leader.
