SpaceX, the space exploration company led by Elon Musk, is planning to go public next year with a valuation of approximately $1.5 trillion (about 2,207 trillion won), according to a Bloomberg report on the 10th (local time).
SpaceX plans to raise over $30 billion (about 44 trillion won), which would make it the largest Initial Public Offering (IPO) in history, Bloomberg reported.
Citing multiple sources, Bloomberg added that SpaceX executives and advisors are targeting a listing in the latter half of next year, but the timing could change depending on variables such as market conditions.
According to sources, SpaceX plans to use a portion of the funds raised through the IPO for the development of space-based data centers and the purchase of necessary semiconductor chips.
Reuters also reported on the same day, citing sources, that SpaceX is considering raising over $25 billion through an IPO next year.
Reuters stated that SpaceX has begun discussions with banks aiming for a listing in June-July of next year, and its valuation could exceed $1 trillion.
According to Bloomberg, SpaceX is expected to achieve annual revenue of approximately $15 billion (about 22 trillion won) this year, with revenues projected to increase to $22 billion-$24 billion (about 32 trillion-35 trillion won) next year. The majority of this revenue comes from its satellite internet service, Starlink.
SpaceX's major long-term investors include venture capital firms such as Peter Thiel's Founders Fund and Valor Equity Partners, with asset management companies Fidelity and Alphabet (Google) also being significant investors.
Previously, the largest IPO was Saudi Aramco's listing in 2019, which raised approximately $29 billion.
Bloomberg and Reuters forecast that if SpaceX achieves the largest IPO, it could encourage major private companies to enter the stock market.
OpenAI and Anthropic, companies in the artificial intelligence (AI) sector, are also reportedly discussing IPOs for next year.
"If all these deals materialize, the U.S. IPO market, which has already started to show signs of life this year, will see a true revival," said Samuel Currin, head of equity markets at financial information firm Mergermarket.
