  • LA Police: "Clear Homicide Case"...Peeple: "Accusations of Murder Against Director's Son"

Director Rob Reiner, who helmed "When Harry Met Sally...", one of the greatest romantic comedies of the 1980s, has passed away.

According to CNN on the 14th (Sunday), a spokesperson for Reiner's family released a statement on the same day, saying, "We are saddened to announce the tragic passing of Director Reiner and his wife, Michele."

While the spokesperson avoided specific mention of the cause of death, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that they are investigating the couple as victims of a "clear homicide."

The LA Fire Department responded to a medical assistance call around 3:30 PM that day at Reiner's home, located in an affluent neighborhood of Los Angeles. Firefighters discovered two bodies inside the residence.

According to the American tabloid People, Reiner's son, Nick (32), is suspected of murdering the couple.

Nick is reportedly under investigation by the LAPD.

This news comes just five days after the incident on the 9th where American opera singer Jubilant Sykes (71), a Grammy nominee, was found stabbed to death in his home. At the time, Sykes' son, Mika Sykes (31), was apprehended at the scene as a suspect in the murder.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump, on the 15th (Monday), posted on Truth Social about the deaths of the Reiner couple, stating, "Reportedly, this was caused by rage induced in others by a fatal and incurable disease called 'Trump Derangement Syndrome' (TDS)," and continued, "He was known for driving people crazy with his fanatical obsession with President Donald J. Trump, and as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness and the golden age of America arrived, his obvious paranoia soared to unprecedented levels."

Director Reiner had previously leveled criticisms against President Trump, calling him a "liar, racist, misogynist, idiot, childish person, narcissist, and evil person," and frequently hosted fundraisers for Democratic politicians.

Born in 1947, Reiner debuted in the film industry in 1984 with "This Is Spinal Tap," widely considered a masterpiece of the mockumentary genre.

He subsequently established himself as one of Hollywood's leading directors with works such as "When Harry Met Sally...", "Misery," and "A Few Good Men."

He also released a sequel to his debut film, "This Is Spinal Tap," this year.
