An informant from a U.S. intelligence agency has revealed that Chinese spies arrested at the National Election Commission's training center during the December 3rd martial law period confessed to being involved not only in election manipulation but also in plots to impeach President Yoon Suk Yeol. It has been revealed that a number of Chinese nationals suspected of espionage, who were arrested at the Suwon Election Training Center on December 3 of last year, confessed to "being involved in the conspiracy to impeach President Yoon Suk Yeol," and that these circumstances had already been detected by U.S. intelligence agencies. Informant 'B', a high-ranking intelligence source who has been working for the U.S. government, stated in an interview with this publication, "Many of the suspects who confessed admitted that they were directly involved in not only public opinion manipulation and election interference but also in the impeachment plot." He added, "The U.S. has already deemed this case a matter of national security and has begun to fully implement a strategy to 'dismantle' China, reminiscent of the Spring and Autumn period." 

This testimony, provided with a voice-modulated recording, was obtained exclusively by this publication and has been verified through at least three face-to-face meetings between January and July. Informant B is a former member of a security research institute under the U.S. federal government and once held specific responsibilities within U.S. intelligence organizations in South Korea. Our intelligence analysis team has verified his identity and the credibility of his statements through cross-referencing with various domestic and international figures.

Informant B stated, "A significant number of Chinese spies arrested at the Suwon Election Training Center have confessed," adding, "We have secured statements confirming that they interfered in South Korean elections and engaged in plots to induce the president's impeachment through the manipulation of public opinion." He continued, "U.S. intelligence operatives in Korea had been accurately tracking their movements in advance, and the spies were taken to the U.S. for a second round of interrogation after an initial investigation at an undisclosed location in Korea."

(Because even if only a few do, the content emerges) Exactly. / They told me that the U.S. operatives stationed here thoroughly investigated and identified the Chinese spies who had entered. Although the U.S. is not making these findings public, an internal consensus is forming that "stern measures are inevitable." B hinted, "The U.S. plans to take retaliatory measures. An internal policy has been set to 'teach them a lesson,' and it is highly likely that there will be no public announcement to minimize diplomatic burdens."

Of particular note is that this spy arrest operation was initiated at the request of the South Korean government. Informant B explained that "South Korean intelligence organizations judged that they could not handle the Chinese spies alone and requested U.S. intervention," confirming that South Korea and the U.S. jointly participated in the operation to apprehend the spy ring. Previously, in March, this reporter cited a military intelligence source stating that the secret operation on December 3 was conducted based on the revised Article 3 of the ROK-U.S. Mutual Defense Treaty. 

The ‘ROK-U.S. Foreign and Defense (2+2) Ministerial Meeting’ refers to the 6th such meeting held in Washington D.C. on October 31 of last year (local time). At this meeting, both countries agreed to amend the treaty to consider cyberattacks or threats in space as security threats to both nations, allowing for a joint response, and issued a joint statement. The statement included Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul, Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. 

When this reporter asked an operation official at the time if they were aware of the treaty amendment during the December 3 operation, they testified, "We did not know that the two countries were pursuing a treaty amendment," but added, "After Article 3 was revised, we were aware of it and participated in the emergency martial law operation. That is because we had continuously demanded that a revision of the treaty (regarding cyber interference by hostile nations) was necessary."

In a way, it’s because the South Korean side couldn't handle it themselves due to the strong influence and resistance from the leftists, so they provided accurate information to the U.S. side (Yes, yes) and I think they consulted with each other. This reporter re-confirmed how this spy ring was related to the impeachment of President Yoon, to which B replied, "They confessed that they carried out public opinion manipulation operations, and the goal was to create 'impeachment sentiment'." He particularly added, "The U.S. has detected signs that this spy ring intervened not only in South Korea but also in U.S. elections, and they are prepared to hold them strictly accountable."

Regarding the possibility of U.S. strategic retaliation against the Chinese government, Informant B drew a clear line. He said, "There will be no official announcement because it could affect diplomatic relations with China," while adding, "However, internally, the investigation is already in its final stages." He hinted that the U.S. is preparing a series of operations to strike at China’s global strategy.

While it is possible that opposition forces and certain pro-China groups might label this report a 'conspiracy theory,' B anticipated the backlash from anti-state elements seeking to devalue this report, noting, "They react even more viciously to prevent damage to themselves." This can be interpreted as an assessment that this report hit the nail on the head regarding the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Regarding the timing of a U.S. announcement, he hinted, "In my view, there is no guarantee that releasing it too quickly is necessarily a good thing."
