Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, along with the chairman of the Seoul City Bus Workers' Union and the chairman of the Seoul City Bus Business Association, has been collectively reported to the authorities in connection with the city bus strike.
The civic group "Saemin Minseang Daechukwi" (Saeminwi, Secretary-General Kim Soon-hwan) announced on the 21st that it had filed a complaint with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency against Mayor Oh Se-hoon, Park Beom-gon, chairman of the Seoul City Bus Workers' Union, and Kim Jeong-hwan, chairman of the Seoul City Bus Business Association, regarding the Seoul city bus strike that took place on the 13th and 14th.
Saeminwi filed the complaint against Mayor Oh for dereliction of duty, and against Chairman Park and Chairman Kim for obstruction of business.
In its complaint, Saeminwi argued that "Mayor Oh Se-hoon's actions of increasing subway operations during rush hour and deploying additional personnel during the city bus strike not only increased the workload of Seoul City officials but also caused inconvenience to citizens," and that this constitutes dereliction of duty.
Regarding Chairman Park and Chairman Kim, the group stated that "the burden of work and psychological costs arising from the strike have caused immeasurable losses that are difficult to quantify," and that this constitutes obstruction of business.
The Seoul city bus strike, which took place on the 13th and 14th, involved 64 companies and approximately 18,700 workers, marking the longest strike in history.
During the strike, citizens experienced severe congestion during their commutes and limitations on their freedom of movement, causing significant inconvenience. Seoul City implemented emergency transportation measures, including increased subway services and the operation of shuttle buses.
