On the 22nd, Jang Dong-hyuk, the leader of the People Power Party, who had been on a hunger strike for eight days demanding a special prosecutor for the Unification Church and campaign funds, is being transported to the hospital from the National Assembly due to worsening health. [Photo=Yonhap News]In the current international political landscape, South Korea's domestic politics has transcended mere inter-party conflict and entered a phase of total ‘regime war’ to protect the liberal democratic system itself.
At this critical juncture, when the fate of the nation and the party is at stake, Jang Dong-hyuk, leader of the People Power Party, elected by conservative liberal citizens, has embarked on a resolute struggle through a hunger strike against the Democratic Party's incitement of sedition, judicial dictatorship, and corrupt cartel, enduring the harsh winter cold.
Belittling Leader Jang Dong-hyuk’s Hunger Strike is ‘Act of Treason’
Of course, there can be disagreements regarding the method of hunger strike and its focus. However, Leader Jang Dong-hyuk's hunger strike is not merely a personal political act; it is an act that risks his life to establish the very existence of the conservative opposition party and the last line of defense for liberal democratic rule of law.
Regardless of the reason, those who belittle the hunger strike without participating in it themselves are, in my view, shallow individuals committing acts of treason.
I previously wrote a column in 2022 titled ‘Let us neither waver nor be shaken.’ Citizens and politicians who support the People Power Party must unite in an orderly fashion around the party leader. They have a responsibility to support the leadership in any way possible, whether through a relay hunger strike, shaving their heads, or any other method, and fight together.
Yet, it is truly lamentable that some so-called aristocratic and ‘welfare’ politicians are instead shaking the leadership with continuous acts of treason, testing the patience of conservative citizens.
In particular, conservative circles both domestically and internationally have held great expectations and pride in women conservative liberal lawmakers. This is because they have symbolized conservative politicians who comprehensively embrace liberal democracy and the rule of law, and uphold principles.
Lawmakers such as Lee Jin-sook, Na Kyung-won, and Kim Min-jeon have fought unyieldingly to protect the party and liberal democratic values amidst the pain of biased public opinion, verbal abuse from radical left-wing forces, political oppression, and removal from office.
Demanding Severance from President Yoon… Aligning with the Democratic Party’s Sedition Frame
In stark contrast, however, the actions of some female lawmakers, including Rep. Bae Hyun-jin, have caused deep disappointment.
Demands for severance from President Yoon Suk-yeol and calls for an apology for martial law are not only inconsistent with the identity of the conservative camp but can be perceived as effectively aligning with the Democratic Party's frame of sedition.
Specifically, Rep. Bae Hyun-jin has repeatedly caused controversy in the past with public insults against First Lady Kim Keon-hee, such as calling her ‘vulgar,’ which has resulted in accumulated anger among female voters.
The decision by the People Power Party's ethics committee to expel Han Dong-hoon is consistent with the party's principles, rule of law, and the will of the majority of conservative liberal citizens. Nevertheless, some lawmakers close to Han Dong-hoon do not hesitate to exert pressure and threats on Leader Jang Dong-hyuk to save him.
Han Dong-hoon’s Expulsion is Unavoidable Due to the ‘Party Bulletin’ Incident Alone
Let me be clear. Han Dong-hoon, as former party leader, is the perpetrator of a clear illegal act known as the ‘party bulletin’ incident, and he has effectively admitted his and his family's involvement. This is a grave offense that can never be forgiven for a leader of a conservative party.
Beyond this, his political betrayal in leading two presidential impeachments, his complicity in election fraud conspiracy theories which led to the cancellation of nominations for hardline activists and consequently the defeat in the general election, and the numerous subsequent acts of treason are countless.
Even without scrutinizing all of these, expulsion is inevitable based on the ‘party bulletin’ incident alone. Yet, instead of reflecting, his act of portraying himself as a ‘hero who stopped sedition’ in a press conference and acting as a victim of manipulation clearly reveals his lack of political morality and spiritual responsibility.
Can forces that sympathize with such an individual be considered normal conservative politicians? What is even more infuriating is that Rep. Bae Hyun-jin visited the site of Leader Jang Dong-hyuk’s hunger strike and exerted pressure tantamount to threats, stating remarks to the effect of, ‘A hunger strike cannot quell the public criticism regarding Han Dong-hoon’s expulsion,’ and ‘If you oust Han Dong-hoon, you will face political responsibility.’
The Real Seditious Force is the Democratic Party, with Lee Jae-myung at its Center
The force that incited sedition is the Democratic Party, and the common sense shared by 90% of conservative supporters is that Lee Jae-myung is at its center.
Are lawmakers truly unaware of this, or are they opportunistically remaining silent and siding with anti-state forces even though they know? Is it not the least one can do to console the party leader fighting with a bone-cutting hunger strike and to support the leadership elected by the party members?
Conservative citizens have endured enough. We must no longer reward vulgar, shallow, selfish, and opportunistic aristocratic politicians who shake the leadership with nominations.
Leader Jang Dong-hyuk, please do not waver and trust the party members. Bold and decisive measures must be taken against those who commit acts of treason, including Bae Hyun-jin. We must rebuild the party with young, clean blood and fight strongly with the goal of dissolving the Democratic Party, the true seditious force.
In the international political and diplomatic order, never forget that there is a free camp waiting for South Korean conservatism to be rebuilt as soon as possible and fight together against the massive anti-freedom and anti-rule of law cartel.
