U.S. President Donald Trump repeatedly questioned on the morning of February 5 (local time) during his speech at the National Prayer Breakfast how deeply religious Americans could support the Democratic Party.

He emphasized this point multiple times while explaining his administration's achievements in defending faith and religious freedom.

Speaking to lawmakers and religious leaders at the Washington Hilton Hotel, Trump stated that it is difficult to understand why believers continue to support the Democratic Party, as it has consistently opposed policies and values important to religious Americans.

During his speech, Trump received applause from the audience when he said, "I don't know how a religious person can vote for the Democratic Party."

Newsmax reported that Trump made similar remarks at least three times during his speech.

He expressed disbelief once again that religious voters could support the Democratic Party, saying, "How on earth can you vote for those people?"

The president cited the Democratic Party's hostility towards religion, pointing to their opposition to voter ID laws, restrictions on prayer in public life, and policies that weakened churches during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Trump argued that while the Democratic Party sought to marginalize faith, the Republican Party had worked to restore faith's role in American society.

Trump promoted his achievements, highlighting the repeal of the Johnson Amendment to allow clergy to speak freely, expanding school choice, protecting prayer in public schools, and reinstating military personnel who were dismissed for challenging vaccine mandates on religious grounds during the pandemic.

He also cited poll results showing overwhelming public support for voter ID laws, including strong support from Democratic voters, and accused Democratic leadership of blocking these bills for political reasons.

President Trump stated that the growing division explains why many religious Americans are shifting to the Republican Party, pointing to increasing church attendance nationwide and record-high Bible sales.

He said that churches are "coming back stronger than ever" after years of pressure from the political left.

The National Prayer Breakfast, traditionally a bipartisan event, provided Trump with a platform to combine faith, politics, and policy.

While acknowledging the presence of Democrats, he suggested that their numbers might be dwindling.

"This will be the last year that Democrats are attending this event," Trump declared, reinforcing his assertion that the Democratic Party is becoming increasingly disconnected from faith-based Americans.
