The Japanese government responded to U.S. President Donald Trump's public endorsement of Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on the 6th, ahead of the Japanese general election (House of Representatives election) on the 8th, by stating, "We will refrain from commenting on this matter at the government level."

However, regarding Prime Minister Takaichi's visit to the United States, he stated, "We are discussing the visit based on the schedule proposed by the United States."

He added, "In the midst of a rapidly changing international landscape, we intend to reaffirm the unwavering bond between our two countries with President Trump and to make this a meaningful visit that further advances bilateral cooperation in a wide range of areas including diplomacy, economy, and security, thereby opening a new chapter in the Japan-U.S. alliance."

Through Truth Social, President Trump, mentioning the Japanese general election, expressed an unusually public endorsement by stating, "Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi is a strong, powerful, and smart leader who has already proven she truly loves her country."

He also stated, "I look forward to welcoming Prime Minister Takaichi to the White House on March 19th."

The governments of both countries have been coordinating the schedule for Prime Minister Takaichi's visit to the United States next month.
