  • Discontinuation of Anthropic technology use within 6 months

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on the 27th (local time) that he has ordered all federal agencies to immediately cease the use of Anthropic's technology, adding that agencies currently utilizing the company's products, such as the Department of Defense, will phase out their use over a six-month period.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated, "The United States will never allow a radical-left, 'woke' company to dictate how our great military fights and wins wars! That decision rests with your Commander-in-Chief and the brilliant military leaders I appoint."

President Trump criticized Anthropic for prioritizing its own terms of service over the needs of the U.S. military.

He remarked, "Anthropic’s left-wing zealots have made a fatal mistake by pressuring the Department of Defense and forcing them to follow their own contract terms rather than the Constitution," adding, "Their selfishness puts American lives at risk, threatens our soldiers, and endangers our national security."

President Trump declared, "Therefore, I am ordering all federal agencies of the United States government to immediately cease using Anthropic’s technology. We do not need it, we do not want it, and we will never do business with them again!"

President Trump emphasized, "The destiny of our nation is for us to decide, and it must not be left in the hands of out-of-control, radical-left AI companies run by people who are completely out of touch with reality."

The President's directive comes amid a conflict surrounding concerns over the potential military use of artificial intelligence between the Department of Defense and Anthropic, one of the world's leading AI research labs.

The AI startup Anthropic had secured a contract worth up to $200 million with the Department of Defense. It is reported that friction arose because Anthropic sought to maintain safety guardrails to ensure its AI model, 'Claude,' would not be used for mass domestic surveillance or the development of fully autonomous lethal weapons, while the Department of Defense demanded that the military be allowed to use the technology without restrictions for "all lawful purposes."
