A memorial service will be held to comfort the souls of patriotic martyrs who died resisting the unjust impeachment on the day President Park Geun-hye was impeached.

The 3.10 Uprising National Committee, comprised of about 30 patriotic right-wing organizations including the Liberty Korea Homeland Group, will hold the "9th Anniversary Memorial Service for the Martyrs of the 3.10 Uprising" on Tuesday, the 10th, at 2 PM in front of Exit 5 of Anguk Station near the Constitutional Court in Jongno-gu.

Martyrs Kim Hae-soo, Kim Joo-bin, Lee Jeong-nam, and Kim Wan-sik lost their lives protesting in front of the Constitutional Court on March 10, 2017, the day the Constitutional Court decided to impeach President Park Geun-hye.

However, the incident did not become widely known because the media did not report it properly.

Oh Sang-jong, head of the Liberty Korea Homeland Group, stated, "The patriotic rally of right-wing citizens who risked their lives resisting the Constitutional Court's unanimous impeachment ruling against President Park Geun-hye led to a tragedy. Because no one in the right-wing camp took the lead and thoroughly investigated, the truth of the incident could not be properly revealed. This is why the families lost all civil lawsuits," he explained.

During the clash between protesters and the riot police, a police bus swayed, and a speaker installed on top of it fell. Martyr Kim was hit by the speaker and died.

The cause of death for the other three was reported as "cardiac arrest," but a thorough investigation into their deaths has not been conducted. At the time, there was widespread public criticism that then-Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon, the Commissioner of the National Police Agency, and the Chief of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency should be held responsible for the accident, but there was neither an investigation into the truth nor punishment for those responsible.

Mayor Park was criticized for not taking follow-up measures, let alone mourning, even after receiving notifications about the ambulance transport, the patient's condition during CPR, and the determination of death.

The 3.10 Uprising National Committee is arguing, "There is a need for an investigation and cause determination into the pain of the four deceased and the numerous injured on that day through a retrial."
