The prosecution has concluded with no charges the allegations that Kim Jung-sook, the wife of former President Moon Jae-in, purchased clothing with special activity funds from the Blue House.

According to legal circles on the 24th, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office's Criminal Affairs Department 2 (Chief Prosecutor Lee Joo-hee) returned the case records related to Mrs. Kim to the police on the previous day.

This means the case will be closed without the police deciding on further investigation, such as supplementary investigation, following the police's decision not to forward the case.

Previously, the police decided not to forward the case with no charges in July of last year.

At the time, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office requested a reinvestigation in October of the same year, considering that further investigation, such as reviewing Mrs. Kim's financial transaction records, was necessary.

In response to the prosecution's request, the police reviewed account and card payment records but found no suspicious points, and Mrs. Kim reportedly denied the allegations through written questioning. Consequently, the police made a no-charge decision again.

The prosecution also conducted its own supplementary investigation but concluded that the source of the clothing costs could not be specified as special activity funds, it is reported.

Mrs. Kim was reported to the civic group the People's Livelihood Measures Committee in March 2022 on suspicion of purchasing approximately 80 clothing items with special activity funds during the tenure of former President Moon.

At the time, the Blue House explained, "As the spouse of the President, I have never allocated or used national funds, including special activity funds, for the purpose of purchasing clothing," and "I paid with private funds."
