While azaleas, along with forsythias, are flowers that symbolize spring in Korea, they are not popular as street trees. Azaleas primarily grow wild on barren mountain slopes with good drainage. However, uniquely, several azalea trees are growing in front of the Seoul Museum of History, located between Gwanghwamun and Seoul Station in Seoul. Who planted them? It's admirable to see them rooted in the city and living through spring, even if there are only a few.
