White House Deputy Press Secretary, Caroline Levitt, stated on Monday the 30th, that President Donald Trump has repeatedly asked lawmakers to return from recess to resolve the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) shutdown, and has announced that if lawmakers return, the White House will host an Easter feast.
"If Congress reconvenes and fights the Democrats on this issue, he will host a grand Easter feast at the White House," said Levitt. "We must do so. The Democrats are doing wrong."
Last week, the Senate passed a bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security, excluding the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP), thereby ending the government shutdown. Enraged by this, the House of Representatives rejected the Senate's agreement and passed its own bill to temporarily fund the entire DHS budget for 60 days.

The government shutdown has now lasted for 44 days, setting a new record for the longest duration. President Trump has repeatedly urged senators to end the filibuster to pass the DHS appropriations bill and the "Save America Act," which requires voter ID verification.
Meanwhile, Levitt stated on this day, "President Trump and the First Lady are praying with Christians who are celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." She added, "President Trump is scheduled to host an Easter luncheon in the East Room with religious leaders from across the country to commemorate the Easter season."
