U.S. President Donald Trump on the 31st (local time) expressed strong dissatisfaction again towards European allies who did not assist the U.S. in the war against Iran, saying, "Go to Hormuz and just take the oil."

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said, "I have a proposal for all countries that cannot get jet fuel because of the Strait of Hormuz, such as the UK, which refused to participate in the beheading of the Iranian (leadership)," adding, "First, buy it from the U.S. We have plenty."

Trump then urged, "Second, summon the courage, even if it's late, and go to the (Hormuz) Strait. And take it (the oil)."

He emphasized, "You must start learning to fight for yourselves. Just as you were not there for us, the U.S. will no longer be there to help you."

He added, "Iran has been virtually devastated, and the hard part is over. Go and secure your own oil."

In a separate post eight minutes later, Trump specifically criticized France.

He claimed, "France did not want to allow planes carrying military supplies bound for Israel to fly over French territory."

He stressed, "France was of no help regarding the 'butcher of Iran,' who was very successfully eliminated. The U.S. will remember this."

Trump specifically pointed out that Britain did not participate in the operation to eliminate the Iranian leadership, and France did not allow the use of its airspace.

Although he did not directly mention that his request for warships to be dispatched to keep the Strait of Hormuz open was effectively rejected by these allies, his call for them to take oil from the Strait of Hormuz, where passage is still not normalized, without U.S. assistance, appears to be a strong expression of dissatisfaction.

The statement, in particular, that allies must learn to fight for themselves and that the U.S. will no longer help, is seen as foreshadowing a significant shock to NATO, the U.S.'s largest military alliance. This is because it implies that the U.S. could withdraw from NATO or, even if it does not withdraw, could fail to fulfill its defense commitments to Europe under the NATO Charter.

Recently, Trump and senior officials in the Trump administration have continued to make remarks questioning NATO, criticizing NATO member states for their lack of cooperation in war.

On the 27th, Trump said, "The U.S. will make a lot of money (if it withdraws from NATO) because we spend hundreds of billions of dollars on NATO every year. We have always been there for them, but now, given their actions, it seems we don't need to be."

The previous day, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo stated, "If NATO is only about us defending Europe when it is attacked, but they refuse basing rights when we need them, then it's not a very good deal. It's difficult to say that it's good for America while continuing to participate (in NATO). Therefore, all of that needs to be re-examined."
