Son Heung-min (33), who plays for Los Angeles FC (LAFC) in Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States, recorded four assists in a single game for the first time in his career, significantly contributing to his team's dominant victory despite playing only 57 minutes.

Son Heung-min started in the 2026 MLS Round 6 home game against Orlando City at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, California, on the 5th (Korean time), and led LAFC to a 6-0 victory by consecutively providing his 8th to 11th assists of the season in the first half alone.

Son Heung-min had previously scored four goals in a match against Southampton in the second round of the 2020-2021 English Premier League on September 2020 (Tottenham won 5-2) while playing for Tottenham Hotspur, but this is the first time he has recorded four assists in a single game.

This season, Son Heung-min has reached double-digit assists in 10 official matches combined with 7 assists in 6 MLS games and 4 assists (1 goal) in 4 CONCACAF Champions Cup matches. He also climbed to the top of the MLS assists ranking.

However, he was unable to score a goal in this match.

Son Heung-min has not scored in nine consecutive matches since his penalty kick goal in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup Round 1 against Real España (Honduras) on February 2nd, his first game of the new year (which also included 3 assists).

Including the two A-matches played after joining the Korean national team led by coach Hong Myung-bo in March, it marks 11 consecutive games without a goal.

Son Heung-min started as part of a three-man front line in a 3-4-3 formation alongside Denis Bouanga and Tyler Boyd.

LAFC played an overwhelming match against Orlando, who were struggling in 13th place in the Eastern Conference with only one win, four losses, and three points after conceding a staggering 17 goals in five games this season.

Despite having returned from a European trip with the national team, Son Heung-min's movements were light.

Son Heung-min's shot from the left side of the penalty area in the 4th minute of the first half was deflected by defender David Brekalo for a corner, but Son Heung-min was involved in all five goals scored by LAFC in the first half.

LAFC took the lead in the 7th minute with an own goal forced by Son Heung-min.

Son Heung-min made a run into the space behind the defenders and received a through ball from Sergi Palencia, then sent a low, fast pass towards the center from the right side of the penalty area. The ball ricocheted off the legs of the defending Brekalo and went into Orlando's net.

Following this, Son Heung-min's "assist show" truly began.

The "Heung-Bu Duo" of Son Heung-min and Bouanga combined for three goals from the 20th to the 28th minute of the first half.

In the 20th minute of the first half, during an LAFC counter-attack, Son Heung-min passed the ball to Bouanga, who was making a run into the space behind the defense from near the center line. Bouanga then scored with a right-footed chip shot from the front of the penalty area.

Son Heung-min added to his attacking points for the first time in 25 days since recording his 7th assist of the season in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup Round of 16 against LD Alajuelense (Costa Rica) on March 11th (a 1-1 draw).

Three minutes later, in another counter-attack, Son Heung-min sent a long ball from his own half, which Bouanga received and scored with a right-footed shot from the left side of the penalty area.

In the 28th minute of the first half, Bouanga completed his hat-trick with a right-footed shot from the center of the penalty area after exchanging passes with Son Heung-min near the penalty arc.

All three of Bouanga's goals originated from Son Heung-min's feet.

In the 40th minute of the first half, Son Heung-min received a pass from Bouanga on the right flank, dribbled to the right edge of the goal line, and delivered a cross to the center, assisting Palencia's fourth goal.

Son Heung-min's left-footed shot from the left side of the penalty area after receiving a pass from Bouanga in the 12th minute of the second half narrowly missed the goal, leaving him with regret.

Immediately after the shot, Son Heung-min was substituted for David Martinez to the applause of the home fans.

LAFC, facing their first leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup quarter-finals against Cruz Azul (Mexico) on the 8th, conserved the energy of key players, including Bouanga, as the outcome of the match was already decided.

LAFC secured the victory with a header goal from Tyler Boyd in the 25th minute of the second half.

LAFC maintained their lead in the MLS Western Conference with a 5-1-0 record (16 points) and an undefeated streak, having kept clean sheets in all six opening matches (scoring 14 goals).

Including their 3 wins and 1 draw in the CONCACAF Champions Cup, they have extended their undefeated streak in 10 official matches this season (8 wins, 2 draws).
