U.S. President Donald Trump on April 6 (local time) described a 45-day ceasefire proposal for the Iran war brokered by mediators as "not enough, but a significant step forward."

Speaking to reporters at the White House during the 'Easter Egg Roll' event, Trump said, "They (the mediators) have made a proposal. It's a significant step forward. It's not enough, but it's very significant."

He added, "We'll see what happens."

U.S. media outlets had previously reported that a mediation proposal, based on a 45-day ceasefire and reopening the Strait of Hormuz, had been delivered to the United States and Iran.

However, Iran has stated that it cannot accept a "temporary ceasefire," making it uncertain whether a compromise with the U.S. can be reached.

In addition, President Trump reiterated the deadline he had previously set for negotiations with Iran: 8 p.m. EST on April 7.

When asked if "8 p.m. on the 7th is the final deadline," President Trump replied, "Yes."

President Trump also repeatedly pressured Iran, saying, "They don't want to cry uncle, but they will. If they don't, there will be no bridges, no power plants, no anything left,"

When asked if he was willing to continue the war, he responded, "The answer is 'yes'," but also said, "We'll have to see," suggesting that the continuation of the war could depend on the negotiation situation.

President Trump also stated, "The people who are negotiating with us on behalf of Iran now are much more rational than the lunatics of the past. I would call this a regime change."

President Trump mentioned the case of Venezuela again, saying, "If I had my choice, I would take their oil, keep the oil, make a lot of money, and take much better care of the people of Iran than they're being taken care of now."

The U.S. has controlled Venezuela's oil exports and been involved in related interests since ousting Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in January.

President Trump also revealed that the U.S. had sent guns to support anti-government protesters in Iran.

He said that the U.S. sent guns, but the group that was supposed to deliver them intercepted them, adding, "I'm very angry at a certain group, and they're going to pay a very big price for it."

He added, "But the people of Iran, as soon as they know they're not going to be shot, and as soon as they get their weapons, they're going to fight back."
