U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed late on the night of the 8th (local time) that U.S. troops would remain stationed in the Middle East until negotiations to end the war with Iran are finalized.

President Trump and Iran announced a two-week ceasefire on Tuesday to negotiate an end to the war, with talks scheduled to take place in Islamabad, Pakistan, this weekend.

There are still disagreements regarding the terms of the current ceasefire, with Iran threatening to resume hostilities if the U.S. does not compel Israel to cease hostilities in Lebanon. Meanwhile, President Trump has indicated that the U.S. will remain on alert in case combat intensifies again.

"All of our great Navy ships, planes, soldiers and additional munitions, weapons, and everything else that is proper and necessary to kill and destroy the enemy, who are already severely weakened, will be stationed in and around Iran until a true agreement is fully implemented," President Trump stated on Truth Social.

"If the agreement is not implemented for any reason (which is very unlikely), then a 'shootout' will begin, bigger, stronger and more violent than ever before. It has been agreed upon a long time ago, and despite all the false rhetoric to the contrary - there will be no nuclear weapons, and the Strait of Hormuz will be open and safe. In the meantime, our great military will be recharged and rested, and actually looking forward to its next Conquest. America is back!" he added.

JustTheNews, seemingly trying to explain the meaning of "its next Conquest," reported, "President Trump had previously suggested that the United States might intervene in Cuba for a 'friendly takeover' after the Cuban government entered into negotiations with Washington."

President Trump's remarks about "remaining on alert" were consistent with what Secretary of War Pete Hegses and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Cain stated during a briefing on "Operation Epic Fury" on the morning of the 8th.

Chairman Cain stated, "We welcome the current ceasefire and hope that Iran will choose lasting peace.
