While the United States and Iran have agreed to hold a second round of truce negotiations, specific dates and venues have not yet been set as of the 15th (local time).
The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported today, citing officials familiar with the matter, that while both countries have agreed in principle to meet, the specific date and location have not yet been confirmed.
The WSJ reported that regional mediators are still working to extend the US-Iran ceasefire and arrange a second round of talks, but progress is slow.
Furthermore, with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif scheduled to visit Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey from the 15th to the 18th, officials stated that it is unlikely for a US-Iran meeting to be held before the completion of Sharif's tour.
Previously, the US and Iran held negotiations for over 20 hours in Islamabad, Pakistan, on the 11th-12th but failed to reach an agreement.
Since then, both countries have continued back-channel negotiations through Pakistan, a mediator. Yesterday, US President Donald Trump hinted at the possibility of resuming negotiations within the week, stating in a media interview that "something could happen in the next two days."
