In a notice text sent to reporters by spokesperson Kwon Hyang-yeop on the same day, the Democratic Party stated, "Around 8 PM today, Rep. Lee Chun-seok called party leader Jung Cheong-rae and expressed his intention to voluntarily withdraw from the party, saying, 'I apologize for causing trouble to the party. I will voluntarily withdraw.'"

Spokesperson Kwon explained, "Representative Jung stated that if he voluntarily withdraws from the party, the party can no longer conduct internal investigations or disciplinary actions, and therefore, the truth behind the allegations must be revealed through a thorough police investigation."

Allegations were raised yesterday that Rep. Lee, the chairman of the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee, used another person's name while trading stocks on his mobile phone during a plenary session of the National Assembly.
