A total of 450 tons of explosives were used to demolish the tunnels.

According to military authorities, these tunnels were built over 10 years at a depth of approximately 25 meters underground and were established as part of Hezbollah's plan to occupy Galilee, with funding from the Iranian regime.

The two tunnels are adjacent but not connected, with a total length of about 2 kilometers. This is the longest underground facility the Israeli military has discovered in southern Lebanon to date.

The Israeli military explained that these facilities were part of extensive underground tunnels discovered in the areas of Rab al-Talasin and Mais al-Jabal during the 2024 fighting.

The Israeli military believes that Hezbollah intended to use these underground bases as launchpads to attack Israeli villages after gathering hundreds of operatives there. However, Hezbollah did not carry out such an invasion.

Inside the tunnels, numerous weapons and living equipment for long-term stays by operatives were stored, and one tunnel had about 10 rooms, including several with bunk beds.

Additionally, the tunnels contained rocket launchers aimed at Israel and vertical shafts to fire them upwards to the surface.

An Israeli military official stated, "These tunnels were constructed according to Iranian standards, and Iran was directly involved in the entire process of planning and funding."
