Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi spoke with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian for approximately 20 minutes on the evening of the 30th, following the passage of a Japanese vessel through the Strait of Hormuz.

According to local media, Prime Minister Takaichi told reporters at the Prime Minister's official residence that he conveyed to President Pezeshkian that the passage of a vessel belonging to Japanese oil refiner Idemitsu Kosan through the Strait of Hormuz on the 28th (local time), with permission from the Iranian government, was "positively received from the perspective of protecting the people."

He also conveyed his position, stating that he calls for the free and safe navigation of all vessels and expects negotiations between the United States and Iran to resume promptly and reach a final agreement.

According to Iran's Tasnim News Agency, President Pezeshkian expressed strong regret regarding the blockade of Iranian ports and provocative statements by US officials.

He criticized, "The provocative remarks and port blockade by American officials are absolutely unacceptable and a clear violation of international law and regulations," adding, "Such actions are further exacerbating the regional situation."

He further emphasized, "We emphasize continuing diplomatic efforts to find a fair solution to guarantee Iran's rights and establish regional peace and stability," stressing, "This is only possible if the excessive demands and provocative actions of the United States are halted."

Both sides agreed to maintain close communication going forward.

Previously, Prime Minister Takaichi and President Pezeshkian had a phone conversation once before, on the 8th.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Takaichi stated at a meeting of ministers related to Middle Eastern affairs held at the Prime Minister's official residence that the supply outlook for naphtha, which he had previously stated would last for more than six months, "can continue beyond the year."

He explained that this is due to securing supplies through alternative procurement sources such as the United States and Peru.
