Just hours after the United States and Iran exchanged fire in the Strait of Hormuz on the 7th (local time), further explosions were heard in the neighboring United Arab Emirates (UAE).
According to AFP, the Financial Times (FT), and other sources, the UAE Ministry of Defense stated that drones, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles originating from Iran were inbound and being intercepted.
The UAE Ministry of Defense explained in a post on its X (formerly Twitter) account, "The sounds heard across the country are due to ongoing operations against missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles."
Damage from these incidents has not yet been reported.
This situation occurred just hours after the US and Iran engaged in a military clash in and around the Strait of Hormuz earlier today.
While both sides maintained a fragile truce, the UAE was caught in the crossfire earlier this month as well.
On the 5th, the UAE shot down missiles and drones launched from Iran, and in the process, a fire broke out at oil facilities in the port of Fujairah, for which the UAE strongly condemned Iran.
The Iranian military has denied any involvement in the attack on the UAE.
