High-level representatives from both the U.S. and China met in South Korea on the 13th ahead of the U.S.-China summit.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng met around 12:30 PM on the 13th in the VIP lounge at Incheon International Airport.

Secretary Yellen, who arrived that morning, met with President Lee Jae-myung at the Presidential Office before returning to Incheon Airport around 11:50 AM.

Approximately 30 minutes later, Vice Premier He entered the airport's VIP lounge. The two sides immediately entered into closed-door talks without any separate public remarks.

The meeting proceeded under strict security. Access to and movement within the VIP lounge were completely controlled, and access for reporters was also severely restricted.

Secretary Yellen and Vice Premier He are expected to finalize the agenda for the U.S.-China summit, which will be held in Beijing, China, the following day.

The government assessed that the choice of South Korea as the venue for preliminary consultations, rather than Beijing, expressed confidence in and support for South Korea's 'pragmatic diplomacy'.
