U.S. President Donald Trump, on a state visit to China for the first time in nine years, arrived at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on the morning of the 14th (local time) for a summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

President Trump's motorcade entered the eastern gate square of the Great Hall of the People around 10 AM via Chang'an Avenue, which runs east-west through Beijing.

Chinese President Xi Jinping descended the stairs of the main building of the Great Hall of the People first to greet President Trump, after which China's official welcome ceremony began.

The two leaders shook hands with representatives from both countries lined up in front of the Great Hall of the People before inspecting the Chinese military honor guard.

President Trump saluted as the U.S. national anthem was played and walked alongside President Xi on the red carpet, engaging in conversation with a bright expression.

Moments were captured of President Trump speaking to President Xi with his arms spread wide, and smiling as he watched Chinese children waving flowers and running.

The U.S. and Chinese presidents are scheduled to hold their summit at the Great Hall of the People following the welcome ceremony.
