Kim Jong Un, the chairman of North Korea's State Affairs Commission, convened military commanders and instructed them to strengthen armed forces around the Military Demarcation Line.

The Korean Central News Agency reported on the 18th that Chairman Kim summoned division and brigade commanders from across the entire army to the Central Committee of the Workers' Party the previous day and held a discussion on a series of "important military issues."

The agency reported that Chairman Kim mentioned "the Party's territorial defense policy of strengthening the front-line units guarding the 'southern border' and making the border line an impregnable fortress."

This indicates North Korea's policy to strengthen its front-line units along the southern border, specifically the Military Demarcation Line bordering South Korea.

Chairman Kim also revealed plans to make "organizational reforms of the military structure" an "important decision" to "more thoroughly deter war" in the future.

Furthermore, the agency reported that he presented plans for militarily and technologically strengthening key units, including those on the front line.

The agency added that Chairman Kim stated, "We will establish organizational measures to renew our army in terms of military organization and military technology," and emphasized the responsibility and role of the commanders in this regard.

Chairman Kim stressed, "In line with the rapid modernization of our army's military-technical equipment, we must actively accelerate planning projects to redefine operational concepts in all spaces and apply them to unit combat training."

He then instructed the commanders to "maintain a training system that aligns with the changing landscape of modern warfare and the developmental trends of our army, and strengthen practical training," emphasizing that "training for the completion of combat readiness is the primary duty of the army."

He further asserted, "We are building a powerful army," and emphasized, "As has already been declared, upon the fulfillment of the tasks for the upcoming five-year plan period, our army's readiness for strategic action will be renewed to an incomparable degree compared to the present, and we will face significant changes in terms of war deterrence."

Chairman Kim took commemorative photos with the commanders on this day. Those accompanying Chairman Kim included Army Chief of Staff Ri Yong Gil and National Defense Minister Advisor Pak Jong Chon.
