Fail to arrest former President Yoon, Kim Keon-hee special prosecutor teamThe special prosecutor team led by Min Jung-gi, investigating allegations related to First Lady Kim Keon-hee, is seen leaving Seoul Detention Center in Uiwang, Gyeonggi Province, on the 7th, after failing to arrest former President Yoon. Yonhap News.

The special prosecutor team led by Min Jung-gi, which failed to execute an arrest warrant for former President Yoon Suk-yeol, is contemplating whether to reapply for the warrant.

Given that the individual is vehemently refusing an in-person interrogation and compulsory apprehension, the team is also considering the option of directly indicting him without re-applying for the warrant, deeming it impractical and ineffective.

During a regular briefing on the afternoon of the 8th, Special Prosecutor Moon Hong-joo stated, "The arrest warrant expired yesterday, leaving us with the issue of re-applying if necessary. Various points have been raised, and we are carefully considering whether to reapply."

When asked if he intended to re-obtain an arrest warrant for an in-person summons and investigation, Special Prosecutor Moon replied, "We maintain the principled stance that he should be summoned and investigated," adding, "However, various circumstances have arisen that need to be examined, and we are discussing this in depth."

He further commented that the possibility of proceeding to trial without seeking an additional arrest warrant is "being considered as one of several options."

Meanwhile, in response to the assertion by former President Yoon's side that the attempt to execute the arrest warrant yesterday was "cruel treatment to forcibly take away a detained person," he countered, "We do not agree with that opinion."

Former President Yoon's side also claimed that during the arrest warrant execution attempt, they were "lied to and asked to get into a car, being told they would be allowed to meet their lawyer in the detention center's visitor room." Regarding this, Special Prosecutor Moon stated, "That is a matter for the Ministry of Justice to clarify," while also noting, "We understand the circumstances to be somewhat different."

He added, "(The place where former President Yoon met his lawyer) was not a designated lawyer visitation area. There was an aspect of accommodating certain suspects, so I don't think it's appropriate to frame it that way."

Regarding the legal team of former President Yoon's announcement of legal action, including criminal complaints and constitutional appeals against the special prosecutor, he responded, "We will review the details and take action later."
