Standing Representative, National Union for North and South KoreaLee Jae-myung, who usurped power through a fraudulent election, has filled his government with all sorts of filth. Now, he is desperate to destroy President Yoon Suk-yeol at any cost. Despite this, the media, like dirty carrion flies, focuses only on praising Lee and spreading anti-American propaganda.
Today, I am writing this because I would like to send North Korea's filthy toilets as a gift to the pro-North, pro-China leftists who worship the North.
Of course, I take no pleasure in exposing the shameful aspects of my homeland. However, I am doing so to strip away the dirty conscience of those pro-North leftists who, after visiting Pyongyang, staying in luxury hotels and guest houses, sipping expensive liquor, and enjoying the scent of perfume from beautiful women, shamelessly claim that North Korea has developed.
As we all know, for a human being to live a civilized life, knowing how to empty oneself is just as important as knowing how to eat well. Therefore, by looking at the bathroom culture, one can discern the economic level and the degree of civilization of a nation.
I am a person who has experienced not only the bathrooms of North Korea but also those in Europe, Southeast Asia, and South Korea.
South Korea undoubtedly has the most advanced bathroom culture on the planet. First, it is a country with more toilets than anywhere else. There is a restroom everywhere you turn. Even foreigners praise this. We are even a country that installs portable toilets at protest sites. Our 500+ subway stations all feature high-end restrooms.
In South Korea, even the most remote public restrooms are clean and free of unpleasant odors. It is the only country where high-quality toilet paper is consistently provided even in public facilities.
Of course, there are a few houses in deep mountain villages or those occupied by people living off the grid that still use traditional pit latrines. But that is simply because those individuals choose to live that way.
I guarantee that if South Korea’s political system and national housecleaning were as well-managed as our bathrooms, the Republic of Korea would be the greatest political powerhouse in the world.
In contrast, North Korea’s bathroom culture is so backward that it is embarrassing for me to admit I am North Korean. The Kim family are failed dictators who have not been able to solve either the problem of feeding their people or providing them with a place to relieve themselves.
In North Korea, flush toilets are found only in apartments in the central districts of Pyongyang. Even then, they are all traditional squat toilets. And even those rarely function properly, as water does not flow consistently to the apartments; residents must use a dipper to scoop water from a nearby bathtub or water tank and pour it into the toilet after use.
Once you leave the central districts of Pyongyang, all single-story houses rely on communal pit latrines. In fact, outside the center of Pyongyang, the area around apartments is littered with human waste left by children, and the communal toilets reek with a nauseating stench.
Restrooms in central state institutions also use traditional squat toilets. Only luxury hotels have installed seated Western-style toilets. Even those hotels have no bidets. Recently, it is said that some wealthy individuals are secretly importing and installing seated toilets from China.
Secondly, there are no public restrooms in Pyongyang’s subway stations, restaurants, or shops. People in an emergency naturally have to find an alleyway. The inconvenience is left to the people to bear.
In the provinces, even in large cities, there are no toilets in private homes. People use communal pit latrines with multiple stalls located underneath apartment buildings. If you need to go in the middle of the night, you have to go down to the base of the apartment building. In the provinces, even public institutions where government officials work use outdoor communal pit latrines.
In reality, the alleys around provincial apartments are so filled with the waste of children and dogs that it is difficult to walk through them.
Thirdly, in provincial cities, counties, and rural villages in North Korea, 100% of the toilets are pit latrines made of boards or mud. It is a country where the state still uses the human waste collected from these facilities for farming. The vast majority of ordinary North Korean residents have never even seen what a flush toilet or a Western-style toilet looks like.
Fourth, North Korea lacks factory-produced toilet paper, with limited supplies provided only in Pyongyang. People use used notebooks or other papers as substitutes. In the winter, farmers collect and use dried corn cobs. In the summer, they use bean or corn leaves. During military physical examinations, I have sometimes seen young men who hadn't wiped themselves at all.
In the winter, you often see fights breaking out between local farmers over who gets to collect the human waste from the communal toilets in the cities.
I believe that after China, North Korea has the filthiest bathroom culture in the world. While North Korean toilets have partitions and doors, they have not changed one bit from the bathroom culture of the 1900s.
In the summer, once you enter and leave a restroom, the stench that clings to your body lasts for hours. With over 30,000 North Korean defectors, do not dare call this a lie. The current South Korean political landscape perfectly resembles the filthy latrines of North Korea. It is beyond dirty.
I dedicate this article to those leftists who so sickeningly serve the North and China.
