The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran announced on the 28th (local time) that it had attacked a U.S. Air Force base in response to an American attack, Reuters reported, citing Iranian state media.

According to Iran's state broadcaster and other outlets, the IRGC, Iran's elite military force, announced that it had targeted and attacked a U.S. Air Force base around 4:50 AM that day.

The IRGC stated that they immediately retaliated against the Air Force base, the origin of the attack, after the U.S. military carried out an additional airstrike targeting Bandar Abbas in southern Iran earlier that morning.

The IRGC defined the U.S. military's attack as an "aggression" and emphasized that "if such incidents are repeated, more decisive responses will follow, and the responsibility for the consequences lies with the 'aggressor.'"

The IRGC did not specify which Air Force base was targeted.

However, with missile attacks detected in Kuwaiti airspace on the same day, where U.S. military bases are located, the possibility that Kuwait was Iran's target is gaining weight.

According to foreign media outlets such as AFP and Reuters, the Kuwaiti military had previously stated on X (formerly Twitter) that "Kuwait's air defense network is currently responding to hostile missile and drone attacks."

Kuwait is home to Ali Al Salem Air Base, a U.S. military base, and has been considered one of the most likely targets for Iran to attack in this conflict.
