SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won showcased an alliance in artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductors by meeting sequentially with Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, and C.C. Wei, Chairman of TSMC, the industry leader in foundry (semiconductor contract manufacturing), in Taiwan.
The 'three-way alliance' for AI semiconductors, connecting NVIDIA and TSMC centered around SK hynix, appears to be solidifying further.

According to SK hynix Newsroom on the 4th, Chairman Chey met with Chairman Wei on the 3rd (local time) in Taipei, Taiwan.
Through this meeting, the two leaders shared insights on next-generation AI technology trends and discussed in-depth strategies for leading the future AI ecosystem based on the strong partnership between their companies.
Significantly, this meeting, the first in two years since June 2024, served as an opportunity to reaffirm the deep trust built between the two companies, according to SK hynix.
Both companies have agreed to further strengthen comprehensive cooperation, encompassing the development of next-generation High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) and advanced packaging technologies, to agilely respond to the global AI market environment.
SK hynix's HBM4 (6th generation), which will be integrated into NVIDIA's next-generation AI accelerator 'Vera Rubin,' utilizes TSMC's 12nm base die and 5th generation 10nm-class DRAM (1b) processes.
Most importantly, as resolving bottlenecks in the current global AI value chain has emerged as a key challenge, the industry expects the cooperation between SK hynix and TSMC to contribute to stabilizing the AI semiconductor supply chain.
Moving forward, both companies plan to accelerate their efforts to preempt the market for 'custom AI memory' tailored to the diverse demands of global big tech companies.
Prior to this meeting, Chairman Chey had also met with CEO Huang on the 1st at a location in Taipei to discuss the future of AI memory cooperation.
Subsequently, on the 2nd, CEO Huang made a surprise visit to SK hynix's booth at the 'Computex 2026' IT exhibition, leaving a message that read "Please make more (HBM)" and reaffirming their friendship by taking a commemorative photo with Chairman Chey and other key executives of SK hynix.
