Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, answers reporters' questions during a 'Samgyeopsal and Soju' (pork belly and soju) dinner meeting with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, and Naver Chairman Lee Hae-jin at the restaurant 'Hyungnim Jeoyo' near Hongdae, Mapo-gu, Seoul, on the 5th. Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, did not hide his love for K-chicken during his second official visit to South Korea.
After a dinner meeting with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, and Naver Chairman Lee Hae-jin at 'Hyungnim Jeoyo,' a grilled pork belly restaurant near Hongik University Station in Seogyo-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, on the 5th, Huang chose BBQ's Hongik University Station branch as the venue for their second stop.
Initially, it was reported that Huang and the business leaders would go to a nearby karaoke bar, but they changed their plans to visit BBQ.
It is understood that they ordered BBQ's signature menu, Golden Olive Chicken, along with draft beer, Cass canned beer, and cola.
The visit to the BBQ store by Huang and the business leaders on this day was spontaneous, and the headquarters of Genesis BBQ was not informed of the visit plan in advance.
Huang's love for Korean chicken is well-known.
During his visit to South Korea in late October last year, he had a chicken and beer meeting with domestic business leaders, including Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Euisun, at 'Kkanbu Chicken' in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
Subsequently, at an Nvidia-related event held at COEX, Huang stated, "I don't know why Korean chicken is the best in the world, but Korean chicken is the best in the world."
Huang is a known enthusiast who frequently visits Korean-style hof (beer pubs) in Silicon Valley, USA. He has personally recommended his regular Korean-style hof, '99 Chicken,' in Santa Clara, California, at both private and public events.
BBQ Hongik University Station branch, opened in July last year, is approximately 40 pyeong (about 132 square meters) in size and is reported to generate average monthly sales of 200 to 300 million Korean won.
It is known that SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won paid the bill after the second meeting concluded.
Furthermore, Park Jin-man, CEO of BBQ, was seen inspecting the site where Huang and the business leaders were present on the day.
