The U.S. military announced on the 7th (local time) that it has so far turned away 132 vessels through maritime blockade measures in areas such as the Strait of Hormuz, targeting Iran.
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), which oversees U.S. forces in the Middle East, stated on X (formerly Twitter) that day, "As of June 7, CENTCOM has diverted 132 commercial vessels and disabled 6 vessels to ensure compliance with the (blockade) measures."
The U.S., which ceased hostilities with Iran on April 7, launched a "maritime blockade against Iran" on April 13 of the same month, blocking passage of vessels entering and exiting Iranian ports in the Strait of Hormuz and its surrounding waters.
This measure is intended to pressure Iran's financial sources and secure an advantageous position in the peace negotiations.
As the peace negotiations between the U.S. and Iran remain in a stalemate, U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly expressed expectations that an agreement could be reached soon, stating that there has been recent progress in the negotiations.
In an interview with NBC on the 5th, he continued to exert pressure, saying, "Iran is strong and proud," but added, "They have no choice."
