U.S. President Donald Trump said on the 7th (local time), regarding Iran, which fired missiles at Israel for the first time since the ceasefire, "What I want to say to Iran is, you fired missiles, so stop it now and come back to the negotiation table to reach an agreement."

In a phone interview with a Fox News reporter on the same day, President Trump stated, "This attack will never be helpful to negotiations," Fox News reported.

The broadcast also reported that President Trump said that negotiations with Iran were progressing towards an agreement that could be reached this week, on Monday (8th), Tuesday (9th), or Wednesday (10th).

Iran fired approximately 10 ballistic missiles toward northern Israel on this day, and the Israeli military has ordered all schools in the region to close.

This is the first attack by Iran on mainland Israel since the ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran took effect on April 8th. It is retaliation for Israel's strike on a key stronghold of the pro-Iranian armed group Hezbollah in the southern outskirts of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon.

Fox News reported that President Trump also expressed displeasure regarding Israel's attack on Lebanon, stating, "There was no coordination with Israel. I am dissatisfied."

In addition, a reporter from the U.S. online media Axios also posted on their X (formerly Twitter) account, stating they had a phone call with President Trump, who said, "No one was injured in the Iranian attack. I hope Israel does not retaliate."

President Trump continued, "If Bibi (nickname for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu) retaliates, the conflict will just continue, as it has for the past 47 years or even 3,000 years."

President Trump added, "We are very close to a final agreement with Iran. It will be a good agreement," and "I do not want this to fall apart because of what is happening now."

President Trump then emphasized, "I am going to call Bibi right now and tell him not to retaliate. Israel attacked and Iran attacked. We do not need further attacks."

In another X post uploaded shortly after, the Axios reporter cited U.S. officials as stating that President Trump had a phone call with Prime Minister Netanyahu.

While the content of the call between the two leaders has not been immediately disclosed, it is speculated that the conversation primarily focused on this matter, given President Trump's repeated statements about the imminent conclusion of negotiations with Iran and his request for Israel to exercise restraint.

If President Trump's recommendation for restraint is heeded, expectations may grow for the U.S. and Iran to reach an agreement, maintaining the framework for peace negotiations. However, if Israel carries out retaliatory attacks against Iran, the precarious ceasefire could collapse, and the war could resume, potentially plunging the Middle East into further chaos.
