As voices of condemnation grow louder on university campuses regarding the shortage of ballots in the 9th National Simultaneous Local Elections, the Student Union of Jeonbuk National University will also hold a statement of the times on the 10th.
On this day, June 10th, the anniversary of the June 10th Democratic Uprising, the Jeonbuk National University Student Union will hold a statement of the times at 6:10 PM in front of the university's Geonji Plaza to condemn the infringement of the right to vote.
The Student Union stated, "The right to vote of citizens has been infringed upon by the state due to a shortage of ballots," and added, "We intend to voice a responsible opinion as representatives of youth regarding the distrust generated in representative democracy and the election system."
On this day, the student unions of 15 universities, including Yonsei University, Konkuk University, Korea University, Kyung Hee University, Sogang University, Seoul National University, University of Seoul, Sungkyunkwan University, Soongsil University, Chonnam National University, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Hongik University, Sookmyung Women's University, Pusan National University, and Hanyang University, have also decided to hold simultaneous statements of the times on their respective campuses.
In their statements of the times, they plan to call for ▲ fact-finding and punishment of those responsible through a parliamentary investigation and special prosecutor ▲ measures to remedy the infringement of fundamental national rights ▲ structural reform of the National Election Commission ▲ and the establishment of a citizen participation-based reform watchdog organization.
