"Are they trying to imprison the First Lady too?" Yoon Supporters Protest in Seocho-dong

Rally near Seoul Central District Court during Kim Keon-hee's detention review... Demanding rejection of arrest warrant

Supporters of former President Yoon Suk-yeol gathered near the Seoul Central District Court in Seocho-dong on the 12th, the day of the pre-arrest detention review (warrant examination) for his wife, Kim Keon-hee.

From the morning, they waved Taegeukgi (South Korean flags) and the Stars and Stripes in various locations in Seocho-dong, demanding the rejection of the arrest warrant.

Around 9:16 AM, as the vehicle carrying Mrs. Kim departed from her residence, Acro Vista, about 10 supporters shouted "Stay strong, First Lady," and "We will protect you," as they bid her farewell.

About 100 people who were rallying at the court's three-way intersection moved to the court's east gate and held up picket signs reading "Guarantee women's human rights," among other messages, in support of Mrs. Kim.

One supporter, visibly agitated, shouted, "It was enough to arrest Mr. (former President) Yoon. Is that not enough, that you are trying to put the First Lady (in jail) too?" and exclaimed, "How can you be so heartless?"

Some also hurled insults and threats at reporters and police officers present, calling them "leftist communists" and "Chinese spies."

About 10 members of the Marine Corps Reserve Association, who were denouncing Rep. Lim Jong-deuk of the People Power Party attending the special prosecutor's hearing for the deceased Marine, encountered them near the Seoul Central District Court. While insults and loud arguments ensued, clashes were avoided due to police intervention. Yonhap News
