Following the June 3rd local elections, election materials such as leftover ballot envelopes were found in a garbage bin at an apartment complex in Chuncheon, reigniting controversy over election fraud for the National Election Commission.
Gangwon Ilbo reported on the 10th that leftover ballot storage envelopes and election pamphlets from the June 3rd local elections were found discarded in bags in a garbage bin within an apartment complex in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, on the 6th.
These items were discarded before the Chuncheon City Election Commission ordered their collective retrieval from June 9th to 11th.
Amidst national outcry over ballot shortages, the controversy is escalating as it has been revealed that the Election Commission's management of election materials is also in disarray.
The principle is that election materials are stored at polling stations and then collected by the Election Commission.
One netizen commented, "It's absurd that election materials that should be managed until the end for a transparent election were brazenly thrown away in an apartment trash can," adding, "The National Election Commission, which has become a sacred cow, is making a mockery of both the election and the people."
